More About the Meet the Need Program
The Veteran and First Responder Support Program is a critical program that was created in honor of USMC Sgt. Tyler Andrews and his family. After Tyler suffered catastrophic injuries in the suicide bombing in Afghanistan in August 2021, Warfighter Overwatch stepped in to help the family in any way possible. It was during this time that we realized that there were no programs in place to provide immediate support to veterans and first responders in crisis situations.
To address this gap, we created the Veteran and First Responder Support Program. This program allows us to dig in and help where it is needed most. We work with veterans and first responders to identify their most urgent needs and provide the support necessary to help them overcome those challenges. Since the inception of this program, we have provided a range of essential services to veterans and first responders in need.
Things we have funded include:
- Specialty mental health care for a firefighter’s child that was not covered by insurance/EAP.
- Inpatient treatment for a retired first responder struggling with dependency issues.
- Transportation for a family pet to be with their loved one during treatment at Walter Reed Military Hospital.
We believe that every veteran and first responder deserves access to the resources and support they need to thrive. Our team is dedicated to providing these services to those who have sacrificed so much for our country and our communities.
Please note that our Meet the Need program is peer referral only. If you or someone you know could benefit from the program, we encourage you to contact us to discuss options for referral. Our team is committed to providing the best possible care for our nation’s first responders and their families.
